A Bonnie Odyssey is a retro-futurist puzzle mystery where you’ll explore an enigmatic abandoned island, unravel the secrets of your own past, and make odd little friends along the way.” ~

My time in Astrodreamer Studio was mainly focused on their current, first IP product game called “A Bonnie Odyssey”, from which I had been tasked with a wide range of various jobs, objectives and deadlines to accomplish, ranging from the following roles I had;

3D Modelling New Assets, Re-texturing Old Assets, Set-Dressing Environments, Optimizing Old 3D Assets, Producing 2D Graphics in Photoshop and Illustrator, Play-testing builds/puzzles of the game and more!

PHOTOSHOP + ILLUSTRATOR WORK

One particular task that I had the most fun with was to re-design the old banner products that are featured in the game called; Bur Bur (a standard, dynamic burger brand), Slice Ahoy (a nautical-themed pizza brand), The Noodle Dream (a dreamy and tasty noodle brand) and Nessie’s Coffee (a Scottish themed coffee brand for a Scottish-based game). Before re-designing them, other than getting high-quality graphic designs - to ensure that there is a lot of freedom for re-scaling purposes in a UV Map and possible re-designs - I decided to produce them in Adobe Illustrator. After finishing their designs, I exported each design to Photoshop to retro-fit them into a UV template to then use for various branded assets in A Bonnie Odyssey. Below are both the final graphic designs of each brand and their retrospective branded 3D assets.

SET-DRESSING ENVIRONMENTS

One of my numerous tasks was to set-dress various areas using new and pre-existing assets to populate the empty environments. The areas I had to cover were “The Electronics Lab” and “The Tower”. I made sure to make it look abandoned for a while with a heavy amount of overgrown foliage and to make it feel as if the rooms had individual purpose and design aesthetic.

sci-fi revolver and robusta

Both weapons are trusty sidearms for their compatriots. The Sci-Fi Revolver is specially custom made for those involved in the Chrome Cartel, allowing their wielders to handle their enemies with swift ease due to the extra firepower they exert. One must think twice before crossing paths with this beast.

The ‘Robusta’ is the Barista’s personal firearm who has had it for as long as she can remember. It has never let her down and always makes an impression to both enemies and customers for its unique frame and deadly, powerful shot. The perfect companion for the Barista!
